No one take this offensive, im not saying your tanks are ugly or bad but have u noticed like on reefcentral thier tanks look eye stunning, but when u compare thiers to here it puts our tanks to shame. U think its thier actual tank or they just good at photo editing?

Here is mine. I had to turn off my actinics because the camera picks up too much blue. Sorry about the glare from the windows. I can post a new picture when I take a more current one.

I think its their actual tanks - if you judge based on the tank of the month competitions, on RC, you will get the impression that the tanks on RC appear superior - there are some fine looking set ups that win those monthly competitions without doubt (Mainly SPS set ups, with a few years of growth so they dont look like corals placed in a tank)

there are some extremely good looking set ups on this thread IMO
There are some extremely good looking reef tanks of 3 reef members who have not posted on this thread ( Ill not mention names as leaving someone out may hurt feelings)

people on 3 reef by and large dont have to worry about negative feedback/ critiques etc
and as such there is no fear about posting images of their tanks irrespective of at what stage of development it is in ( a new tank with 6 rocks and a Damsel etc)
on another less family oriented site, people may be reluctant to show something that they consider inferior to others they have seen
hence the bias on sites of that nature would favour mature set ups, with healthy, growing corals and naturally, thats the target for everyone on this thread eventually

also numbers have a big influence
for example maybe 20% of reefkeepers have a tank over a few years old thats fully stocked, and looks natural rather than corals stuck on bit of rocks or plugs placed in a tank
so as the membership on RC is so much larger than the membership on 3 reef, that 20% equates to a lot more images of very nice , healthy, developed set ups

My Flame behaves for the most part, he is curious and picks here and there but never does any type of damage. I think he used to be more nippy but over time has gotten much better. He's the first to inspect a new coral when it goes in, but again, never does any damage.

Well said Steve. I've been on the other sites and am personally not a very big fan. I personally enjoy the people (and their tanks) on here WAY more than RC.
