Man my skimmate looks nowhere near as dark and sludgy. It is more of an apple juice/tea color...

Does this mean my skimmer (Remora AquaC HOB) isn't working properly or does it mean I don't have anything to pull out of the water or is it one of those impossible to tell scenarios.

This is a pic of the froth that I get, and the liquid that collects, as mentioned above, is kind of yellowish.

Actully the color of the effluent depends on how wet or dry you set the skimmer when producing foam.
The S-120 pic was older. Now that I'm running NPX Bio-plastics I have made the foam more wet and the effluent is the color of tea and is produced faster.

So, wet or dry skimmate. Which is better in your guys's opinion?

Drier skimmate has more organics bound to it which is obvious by the dark effluent. But it takes longer to produce a cup that needs emptying. That's a good thing for a couple of reasons IMO. More bound nutrients being removed/less physical work required by me.
However wet skimmate may not have the same volume of bound organics but the effluent is produced a lot faster and IMO removes more excess waste than running drier. I do have to empty the cup daily though and this is draw back.
