    This is a cool thread. I'm just curious to why you started it though? Is to see which skimmers perform the best?

    That's not really true.

    The only different is how concentrated or dilute the skimmate is... total organics does not change and one is not better than the other. All it means is how much water is in the skimmate.

    Running wetter keeps things a little cleaner and it is easier to clean when the time comes. Drier tends to get pretty caked up.

    Using skimate color to judge perfomance is about as accurate as saying a red car is faster than a blue one. Meaningless. One of the more stubborn myths in this hobby... that if your skimmer is producing expresso colored skimmate it is kicking a$$! Does not mean anything.

    Also... skimate in black skimmers always looks dark compared to white skimmers when in fact it can be the same color, just different background.

    I started it to see the different kinds of skimmers people have and how the majority of people run them (wet or dry skimmate).
