    Nope. As the air stone ages over a six month period, the air flow is gradually reduced and I increase the pressure slightly to restore proper flow every once in a while. I switch out the air stone every 6 months, clean and dry and make ready for the next switch. Each stone I can use about 3 times but the third time usually only for about 3 months.
    This time I adjusted the flow and didn't wait around long enough to be sure everything was OK and when I came back about 45 minutes later, this had happened.
    The skimmer is a counter current 4" diameter 6 foot tall with a 1 foot cube box on the top for the skimmate.
    The air stone is 7" by 2" by 2" with a 7/8" diameter bore with air supplied from a linear compressor.

    Do the airstone protein skimmers still work well? That fam looks pretty dry.

    You can have it wet or dry by adjusting the air flow volume.
    That foam in the picture is extremely wet though.
    I don't know how commercial air stone skimmers are but like any others there are probably good ones and poor ones.
