    Well...this is interesting...

Today i just did a top off and was looking at the tank, all of a sudden i see my wrasse eating what looks to be the tail of a shrimp...it was...now im thinking im gona sell the wrasse soon...but the weird thing was...was that the shimp looked cooked...it was completly white like if you were to cook a shrimp...it didnt look all gooey and etc...he was molting so im assume he got it then because the wrasse doesnt mess with the others (who arent molting)...is it more likley the top off water boiled the shrimp...it was 80 degrees lol...or the wrasse ate him and his flesh was just white?

I think that's the natural color of the meat, no? I witnessed my fire shrimp tear apart a dead orange-knuckle hermit and the meat looked white, like cooked lobster. It looked rather tasty.

That's what happens when flesh is begining to decay.

It kinda gets pickled by the salt water

Hey Bruce what type of wrasse is yours! I saw a Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse in a Lfs with 6 peppermint shrimp in the same tank all the shrimp were in a corner. So I watch for awhile and it was attacking the shrimp in 1/2 hour it chow down on 3 shrimp. I went back the next day all gone! I told the Lfs employee and he couldn't careless! The Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse are suppose to be reef safe!!!!!

if the lfs employee could care less, maybe he doesn't feed the fish as well. perhaps the wrasse was going after the only food that was available.

I thought that only the cleaner wrasse is considered reef safe. Some species will also eat corals....not good!

I think my Black Birdwrasse has been the demise of a fireshrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp and a Sally Lightfoot crab! Unfortunately she is one of my wife's favorites so it looks like shrimp go only in th fuge from now on.:)

I had acouple of peppermint's in my 30 hex. I also noticed that they had died and were also a whitish color resting on the bottom being eaten by a serpent star. I had to look twice as I thought it was just a molt, however when they have molted in the past it wasn't that color. I knew they had died. I don't know what happened, as I still have one peppermint shrimp left. I recently had a fairy wrasse die or jump out of my tank, because I haven't seen him in a while. May be he was the culprit!!!I don't know-Maybe wrasse's aren't good at all for reef tanks, though they swear by fairy, six-lined, and cleaner wrasses.
