I just added three peppermint shrimp to my nano, I was happy at the LFS cause they got 3 nice sized ones in, really good color too...I acclimated them very slowly not to shock them, in the bag I noticed a small clump of little white-ish orbs(looks like eggs to me?) they came from the largest shrimp, when I put them in thr tank two went on the rocks and seem fine still(moving, breathing, eating, etc.) the large one that released the eggs? was acting a little nutz and couldnt stand up straight and with in a minute keeled over dead, other two are still fine now about an hour later...any thoughts? its driving me nutz trying to figure what happened to that one...

Some live, some die. Don't worry too much about a $5 shrimp. Just get another if you really need 3 of them. What ever happened to your BTA?

tank crashed do to filter issues about 3 months back, took out everything but a clown fish...its doing good now though, coralline is growing, all four fish are doing good, conch is good, electric blue hermit is good...just checked on the two other shrimp. thought they were dead but i reached in and they scurried away so I guess they are ok...didnt know if it was commen for a shrimp to just die within a minute of going into the tank when it seemed fine in the back, although it was moving around more then the other two in the back so maybe it was getting ready to croak...oh and the BTA was fine till the crash it looked great, then everything went sour within about 2 weeks...tanks upgraded now though, 80gph canister filter in addition to the built in one that I also upgraded awhile back, and I have 72watts of lighting now...looking for a larger tank currently, wanting a 46 bowfront...

it could have just been sick at the lfs, i have unfortunately have bought livestock that seemed fine at the store and in the bag, but immediately seemed sick/ill when put into the tank

46 bowfront for a few months... and then what? LOL...
Sorry to just hear about the tank crash. That su(ks bro.
I traded in my BTA a few months back. BUH-BYE...
Really though, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. Hell, maybe the LFS will even take him back if he died in less than a minute and the other 2 are ok...? Bring them a water sample and the dead one and ask for a replacement. Say he looked sick :sick2: but the other 2 looked fine, and you really didn't want to take the sick one, but the girl there had already put him in the bag for you...

I deal directly with the one owner, seems the most well informed person there on salt stuff, Im gonna tell him and he will probably give me credit on it, he replaced a bangai cardinal he sold me that refused to eat anything and died two days later, the replacement fish eats like a hog so if must have just been a sick fish, he fed it guppies he said so maybe that screwed it up...but anyway if the other two live then I wont even care...46 bowfront is the biggest I can have in the current living situation...LFS tried to sell me a 125 with overflows and all, but its A) more then I wanna spend and B) just a monster of a tank

    I agree. That's why I'm looking for a 150 gallon 60 x 24 x 25. 6 ft is just too long...
But so far cheapest I found with one over flow with 2 drilled holes was $550 w/o shipping included. And I'd want 2 overflows, one in each corner - is that too much to ask? Been looking around craigslist for a month or so now.

thats high, they wanted 350 for the 125 with two nice overflows on the back side of the tank, not corner overflows but decent positioning...and I have been talking to a guy about a used 46 bowfront with a stand and a good light for a reef tank and he wanted 150 for it, now hes not sure he wants to sell it...hope i can get it this weekend...

That would be a good price if the light is a "good light for a reef tank". Hope he sells it to ya.
