Is it safe to put a cleaner shrimp approx 1" in size in a 50G tank with a fire shrimp approx 2.5 to 3" in size? I put him in it about a week ago and I havent seen him since, Is he just molting .

It could be that it is molting. Shrimp are pretty elusive to begin with..could be still getting used to everything.

I have a 75gal with a fire shrimp and a cleaner shrimp. I have witnessed them come in contact with one another and they just go their separate ways. I also have a peppermint shrimp in there and it hides most of the day and comes out at night. The fire shrimp stays in his cave and comes out during feeding time. Occasionally he will run aimlessly through the sand and then scurry back to his cave. The cleaner shrimp is all over the place constantly cleaning something.

They should be fine. I have seen no aggression from any of the shrimp. Now the large emerald crab I have is another story

I have a coral banded shrimp and a cleaner shrimp in my 65, and the cleaner just avoids the CBS. Considering the CBS are notorious for ripping apart other crustaceans (ever wondered why they have those huge arms?), I'd say you're probably ok and that it's molting.

Ok guys its been another week and still no sign of him,Whats the longest I should wait before I assume he's dead. The fire shrimp comes out every time for feeding and when I put my hand in he comes over to pick at it, and no sigh of the cleaner.

    I'd say he's a goner. Sorry!
