My coral banded hangs out all day under a rock when the lights are on, then scavenges at night..

Not sure about the stocking limit of shrimp, but I just added a fire shrimp lastnight to bring my running total of shrimp up to 2 in a 55 gallon..

Havent seen the fire since though, we'll see.

My peppermint hangs out in his cave a lot too but he is getting used to me and coming out and mingling more :D I had a tiny pinch of brine under my fingernail and so he took it upon himself to clean me....

fire and peppermint shrimp tend to come out more when in larger groups. Say 3-5 or so.

They do tend to hide all day though. That's just part of how they are.

you can get several shrimp in a 55.

Some people have issues with coral banded being agressive. I've never had one for this reason...

My Royal Gramma ate all my peppermint shrimp.

I have two peppermint and a cleaner in my 55 and they do great. I was considering a coral banded until I realized they can sometimes get aggressive.

My peppermint shrimp do come out during the day but that only started after I had Ich take out my fish. I only had the lawnmower blenny left and apparently he doesnt scare the shrimp. They are out quite a lot in the late afternoon and almost all night (every time I check they are out.
