shroom reproduction?

    Who knows how mushroom anemones reproduce? I have one "momma" shroom which moves about the tank, sits for a while then moves on, leaving 2 to 3 little mushrooms where she was sitting - :confused:

    Definitely not dividing - they were hatched (or whatever) underneath her.

    Seems like something pretty strange is going on here...:-/

    They can form mouths and split (not whats happening)

    I've heard of whats happening with you...leaving part of the foot behind to regen a new mushie :)

    yup that is how mine reproduce they just stretch out the foot and it splits there. and little mushies are left behind

    Corallimorpharians reproduce by asexual reproduction, and they will reproduce quicker in warmer water as their metabolism speeds up!
    Budding, laceration, inverse budding, fission and transverse fission are all commonly evident with anyone who has mushroom anemones!!!

    i wish I could get ONE of my mushrooms to split.. they just sit there and do nothing lol.. water temps is right at 78

    They reproduce by more than splitting(mitosis)! Under the right conditions, and given time, they will for you!
