the load of shrooms that i got and placed in the sump in a container of gravel rotted. i woke up this morning to cloudy water so i instantly checked the container. most of the shrooms rotted away into slimy mush. i took it out and grabbed the shrooms that still looked ok. i placed those on the sandbed of the display and put a piece of eggcrate over them. hopefully they will attach to some sand that i can glue. i think the stagnant, still water in the sump is to blame. man did it smell horrible! i am doing an unscheduled water change today

Hmm, strange. The sump has some flow. What type of mushrooms are these?

That's really odd. Did you use a pair of scissors to create flow holes in the side of the containter?

no flow holes. the water is really stagnant in the sump. only about 400-500 gallons an hr go through it. when i took these shrooms out of the big museum tank i just grabbed them with tongs and ripped them off. so that, and the low flow probably did them in. the ones that are in the display do look nice though. i hope they spread fast.
