hi! i was wondering if i could shut off my only powerhead for night time, since i just put my anemone back in the tank i wouldn't want it to go right back in it and i can't really check it when i'm asleep. The only flow left would be the return from the sump (around 200 GPH). Any advise?

If you have a skimmer setup and running then I wouldn't worry much about it if you turned it off.

Only thing is, with the powerhead off the current in the tank changes ans the anemone will find a spot it likes. When you turn it back on, that spot might not be ideal any longer and the anemone will probably start to wander again.

You can always put a sponge prefilter on the pump. I had to do this to mine after I has some problems with fish.

You can also get a controller for the powerhead with a night sensor that will slow it down at night.

I would attatch a piece of PVC with holes drilled in it so you still get the flow without harming the anemone. Reason being the corals will feed at night (that clear string stuff that comes out at night) and need a good current to bring the food to them.

sorry for the delay. I did shut it off for the night time and in the morning i turned it back on, but all my corals took like a good hour to get back into shape so i did not shut it off again. as for the anemone it did not go near the powerhead again so i think it will be ok.

I'd leave it alone if you like PM me and I can send you some pics of the PVC and clear plastic things I fabbed up when I was still using power heads.
