    Hi all,
Have a Blue Spot Jawfish in my QT tanks. He's extremely shy, only coming out when the lights are out. Don't think he's eating much. Temp 80 F
    sg 1.021
    ammonia .25
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 0
Doing a 3 gallon water change daily with some amquel added (out 1/2-1 tsp) Tried frozen mysis and some live brine shrimp. I added some sand and shell rubble when I put him in the tank. Any thoughts?- Paul

They can be very shy at first, take a week or longer to warm up and feel comfortable. The ammonia problem probably isnt helping either, I would suggest getting it to the DT ASAP.

Oh.. by the way I have witnessed one attempt to jump out. He jumped up hit the light hood pretty hard and back into the rocks. Make sure your tank is setup for jumpers.

It's not going to eat until it gets comfortable and begins to build a home. If you have it in a small tank with minimal sand and hiding places, then chances are it cannot acclimate properly. I would get it into a more permanent home ASAP IMO

Thanks guys. Has only been in the QT for a week but was at the lfs for at least 3 weeks. He was in a bank of tanks that primarily had invertebrates, but some of the other tanks (not in the same bank) had some ich. Hence my hesitation in moving him.- Paul
