I've had my coral beauty for about a month now. He was bought from a very reputable LFS and has been fine until today. I noticed one of his eyes is clouded over  . Everything else looks fine, he is eating and swimming okay.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

i read cloudy eyes can be caused by itch.

sometimes the fish may not have the infection on the outside.
but the gills could be covered.

If its breathing rapidly then a fresh water bath could help.
but please wait till someone else backs me up on this or not. i don't have that much xp on deseases.

I don't notice any rapid breathing. Anyone else have any experience with this?

hi there i worked in a store for a few years (5) and have been in this hobby for about 16 but its defferent with every fish... personally i would lace the foods being fed to this fish (i see hes eating redily) with vitamins found at your local LFS at least twice a day vary the diet including nori as well as meaty foods...

and obviously practice good husbandry where your parametres are concearned!!!

other than that i am unsure of whatto do as i havent had to dose fish in my main system on 11 yaers now, they do get sick but this is how i handle it.... works everytime for me...

I had an ich problem not long ago and from my research the cloudy eyes is a secondary problem once the immune system becomes weakened a bacterial infection can take over and produce cloudy eyes or even bubble eyes (the bubble eyes took my threadfin butterfly as a secondary effect of ich). It's a tough battle because if you treat your tank with meds it affects everything else. If you have pristine water -- I've heard soak food in garlic and give vitamins the fish's own immune system can kick it -- depends on how bad the eyes get they may not clear completely however.

Thats my 2 cents -- may be worth only that though.

i know you wouldent like to and thats not the purpose of this discussion but how much will you damage your system in comparison to losing the fosh should you dose???

i would take my chances in feeding him vit enriched foods and if he succumbs to the infection then you still at least know that your other fish were strong enough to withstand the illness and overcome it!!! with little impact on the system!! survival of the fittest....

The cloudy eye seems to be much better today. It's great news and I will still be adding some vitamins to their diets but what would explain this?
