I ran out and got a airstone and pump... lost or threw out the one i had. increased the surface disturbance, and added the airstone. He has slowed his breathing a bit... still kind of fast but he's plenty active and feeding on brine shrimp and is grazing on algae!!! So happy... ich is clearing up but im going to keep him in QT for a few weeks anyways.

    what is selcon?

Basically a blend of fatty acids and vitamins. Should also entice picky eaters to eat. You just soak frozen or dry food in a bit of it prior to feeding. Here is one place that sells it:

Reef Aquarium Fish Foods & Vitamins: Selcon

awesome thanks... that sounds more beneficial compared to garlic. Does the garlic provide any benefits besides "flavor" or getting the picky fish to eat?

Oh and the Kole is doing great... eating like a PIG and Ich is almost nonexistant!! Also breathing is much more controlled and back to normal... think it was stress but the extra O2 didnt hurt!!!! Thanks guys again... such a help and preventing me from being overthoughtful and doing something counterproductive!!! Always good info!

its not a gonner untill he stops breathing, do a large WC and as last, i repeat LAST resort try helping the breathing by gently moving the fish back and forth in the water so as to force water in its gills. consider this as fish CPR

Damn...thought we had it whooped....If he is laying on his side, and not swimming, I agree that prodding him to swim is the last hope. Once they lay down, the O2 levels deplete. I saved one of my freshwater fish this way. We were having carpet installed, and I temporarily moved the tank to the other room while they finished. I forgot to plug in a powerhead to keep the water moving, and the o2 depleted. He was on his side, but I then put a powerhead in there and got the water moving. Prodded him along, and he recovered. I wish you the best.

He's gone sorry for not updating... 2 hrs after my post he stopped breathing and was declared deceased!!!

Robman... I know that is what was so frustrating... He was eating like a pig!!!!!! It was amazing he would eat some Mysis and brine three times a day and graze between those feedings.... Oh well I only think he lasted as long as he did due to my efforts.

One last question... On such a small specimen is it common for the low survival rate... He was maybe 1.5"??? Just trying to figure it out...
