Hi and thanks in advance for the help. I purchased a sailfin tang last week and currently he is floating near the bottom of the tank and not verry active, he wont eat, and is currently in quarantine in a 10 gallon (all I have for an extra tank). Any advice on what to look for? Treatments? Leave him in there for now and see what happens? Thanks for the help.

Is the breathing Heavy? Did you give the fish any PVC sized pipes to hide in? Any sign of cloudy/spotted fins or skin?

I would guess he is breathing heavy...to be honest not sure what regular breathing would look like, but i can see the gills rising and falling fast, no pvc he is in the tank in quarantine all by himself, and right now I dont notice any spots or discoloration. He started acting funny on saturday. When i brought him home he ate happily, now he seems to have no intrest in food. Parameters are 1.025, 0,0,0.

Depending on the size of the sailfin that may cause to stress. A 10G isnt much for a tang for QT. Another thing to check would be your tank parameters with a decent test kit, Ammonia, Nitrate, and Nitrite, also the Salinity... QT's can tend to go haywire without proper maintenance.

The parmeters should be good, it was a new batch I made up yesterday and he was dip aclimatized into it for about an hour. The 10 gallon was the only spare I had on hand, as of this morning he was in the 150 and started going south in that.

Right now he is laying on his side on the bottom of the tank. Is there anything I can do to save him or is he a gonner?

leave him/her alone for awhile as it has to be stressed...lower the lights give him some space and see what is up in the morning.
