I checked my water and my nitrates are 40ppm every thing else pertinent is 0 except calcium it is 420. Here are a couple pics of the tang. he has good color no bad spots just found him this morning laying on his side almost under a rock. I picked him up and set him in front and he is moving around some but just a little...any ideas or miracle cures?

Have you tried offering Nori/Seaweed/Lettuce? Its one of their main things they should have in their diet to stay at a healthy size.

Tangs are herbivors. They need algae. Feeding it only meats will cause problems. Get some algae sheets asap.

+1 on getting it some nori. He definitely looks like he needs some fattening up. Tangs are not able to get the nutrition they need from meaty foods.

If you have never given him nori on a clip, rubberbanding some to a rock is more natural and might encourage him to eat. Also, try putting some garlic juice on the nori to stimulate his appetite.

From your description, it might be too late to save him, but I wish you the best of luck! Tangs are my favorite fish.

I have been using algae sheet's but the problem today is different. my heater went on the blink and did not shut down for some weird reason. So I looked at the gauge on the wall and the water temp is 88.3 degree's. The heater is now in the trash. I will get some nori also. I turned on my A.C. and put a fan on the tank and cut the light's so the temp should slowly drop down thank's for all the input.
