Kenya tree has been closed up again for a couple days now. 3 days ago it started dropping some small pieces and I collected them and secured them to hopefully gain some new trees. Today i notice that there's a huge branch of the kenya on the sand bed. roughly 4" long compared to the other branches that are about only 1". Is this normal?
At this point I have a bout 8 droppings. It's a bit bittersweet because I'm happy for the frags as I get to trade but I don't want my kenya mother colony to degrade into a much smaller one.
Attached is a pic of the mother colony still closed up and the 4" branch I found this morning.

I have them well secured hoping they will attach. I like the fact that I finally got frags but it's too much of a good thing. there are little droppings everywhere. Some I can't even get to behind the rock work. I hope those survive. I've secured 8 pieces. Most are very small though. An inch or less.

I hope it nothing seriously wrong with the colony though. that thing is huge. do the frags look healthy?

Well healthy by the fact that they don't smell bad and they're pretty firm to the touch. They're not melting away either8)
When the lights come on, they try to erect themselves but still not much polyp extension.
I got two more small frags this morning.

well that doesn't sound too bad. i guess that is how it would propagate in the wild anyway.

Well some good news and bad news.
First the bad news, a small vacation led to an ich outbreak and a dead pink spotted watchman goby and my prized clown tang:cry:

And the good news, I got my first acropora. Don't know the species yet tho. I plan on getting a few more pieces of the same acro some time in the near future.

I also got a devil's hand leather that came with a really neat favia sp. hitch hiker. Don't know if you could see it in the pics well tho.

Ty Seano. I'm really pissed about the tang dying. It was the most noticed and most expensive fish in my tank.
When I saw the favia with the leather, I just had to have it. I also so a green monti cap on a rock with another species of favia on it. I was tempted to take it but the monti had begun to bleach a bit.

I also forgot to add that there was another hitch hiker on the leather, a peppermint shrimp. But he's still in hiding.:cheesy:
