I'm trying to create a DIY sump and I have all the supplies except the Silicone. I know the silicone has to be non-toxic but I really only found one brand that said that it wasn't for aquariums at my local hardware store. Are the other brands safe?? What are some brands that are 100% aquarium safe and that other people have used and are proven to work?

    Cheers

Awesome! I don't really like shopping there ( The way they treat their live stock is just despicable) but I will have to to check it tomorrow thanks Pack

Yep,Home Depot sells 100% silicone by GE in the tubes made for a caulking gun. That will be fine for your tank. Also if your gonna use acrylic make sure you put good thick beads on both sides of it because silicone doesn't stick to well to acrylic.Good thick beads will form more of a wedge and hold it better. Had to re-do my first sump baffles and learned this lessen the hard way.

GE #1 is 100% reef safe. Just make sure to use the 100% silicone stuff, and not the stuff with the mildew cide, or any bacterial killer. I have used this myself, adn it works great.

HD, lowes and many other places carry this in store, and it costs about 5 dollars for an entire full size caulk gun tube, whereas the all glass or tank specific stuff costs 3 times as much or more.
