Making a frag section in my fuge and wondering which type of egg crate is better white or silver. the crate will span most of the fuge and will be above the LR so i'm also trying to keep light diffusion at a minimum (hence the question between white and silver egg crate).

    2 questions:
1: Is silver (reflective) egg crate ok to use in a tank. I'm mainly thinking here about the reflective coat on the crate and if its likely to slowly chip away as it sits in saltwater.
2: Will this crate diffuse more or less light because it is reflective?

I assume white egg crate is the way to go cus i've never seen silver ones used but I'm just curious.

    1. I think you have the answer. I'd concern about silver paint chips too.
    2. Sooner or later, the rack will be covered with coraline.

The silver coating is very brittle. It will start to flake off for sure. Other than that I have no idea what the material is made out of and what it could possibly leach into your tank. Stick with the black or white since that is simply dyed and not an extra material applied to the egg crate itself
