Two questions, pretty unrelated, and I don;t know if anyone can help! First, I live in Australia, have two tropical tanks (160L and 80L) and one marine tank (160L). My marine tank is running quite warm. In fact, I have turned the heater off and it is still is running between 24 and 26 degrees celcius. My two tropical tanks are running about 24 degrees celcius with the heaters on. Any reason this wold be the case?

Secondly, i have two silver sharks (marine). They are no longer silver - more a pale white colour. All the other fish are okay (Bristlenose cat fish are breeding like mad, and cory catfish good too). Any ideas on this one!

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Cheers,

    Donna

Do you have a/c running in your house? Do you have a chiller?

I run my tanks at 77 to 78 even 79 sometimes and if memory serves me at 26C that about 78 F ? I'd say thats where I run mine of average. So I don't see a problem with he numbers you posted .. But a Fan ran blowing along over the surface will drop the temps a few degrees though the evaporative effect at the waters surface..

No chiller. No fan running. The thing that is strange is the fact the two tropical tanks have the heaters on and are running cooler than my marine tank where i have unplugged the heater!

Although I think your temps are fine, you should maybe check your heaters to make sure that they're functioning properly.
