    Wouldn't it just come basck in his situation, like in a day or two?

    I'm all about the surface skimming on my Reef and set up.

    Over time it comes back but the OP would need to be the judge of how often it needs to be done. Probably once every couple weeks?

    Before installing my sump I used a reef octo bh1000 which has an intake that effectively skims the surface.When I began using that skimmer the surface film that I did have was totally gone in about one hour and never formed again.
