I have a few spots in my tank where there are single strands of what looks like a red hair is floating around. I have viewed a few pics of red hair algae and it doesnt look like that. I also googled cyanobacteria and it doesnt look like that either. My tank is only 2 weeks old and I have a good bit of brown algae growing.

I do have some little tubes growing on my LR but this is not coming out of tubes. I even had on clinging on to the top of my heater. I pulled it out of the tank and pulled it apart. It wasnt very strong and didnt break like a hair.

Floating in the water column? Do you have live rock in the tank? Probably just die off if so. Doesn’t really matter, your 2 weeks along and lots of different things will appear during the cycle. This is nothing to worry about – though, out of curiosity…can you get a pic?

Its normal, not algae at all - basically its dirt I forget what its called. Someone will know. Think of it as snail mucas collecting fine particles of detritus. Its normal and just part of your cycle.

Looks like dinoflagellates to me. Got a bit of that going on in our tank.
