My six line that I have had for close to a year and a half jumped out when I was in the shower, luckily I was home and found it on the carpet when I got out. I put him in my overflow box, and tried to clean off the debris from it. Its now moving very little but still breathing but totally in a state of shock on its side. Any tips on how to save it or can I just hope for the best as it is.

oh I'm so sorry!! Did you not have a lid, or did he find an escape route? I don't know if there is anything else you can do. I have heard some people move the fish back and forth to force water through its gills...but I don't know.

I'm sorry!! I hope he makes it!

i had a carpenters do the same. was out of the tank for at least 5 mins. when able to get him. it was covered in dog hair. tossed it back into the tank. it layed under a rock for a day , all stressed. within a few days , it was all good. no worse for wear. think all you can do is wait it out dada. best of luck with it.

The current in your overflow may be a bit too much for it while it is weak. Any chance you have a another way to keep it in some quieter water?

If you can get into a QT, then a bit of extra oxygenation and a dose of Stress Coat may help....But, don't use Stress Coat (or other such treatments) without turning off your skimmer, if your running one...the skimmer will go nuts and overflow madly....

I have a little plastic hang in box seclusion thing that I put him in. When I picked him up initially he was frozen so I moved him in the water and thought it was dead but when I put him on top I noticed it was breathing. This time when I pulled him out of the overflow and put him in the plastic thing he was floppin like a fish out of water. Now hes just in there on the bottom, just hopin for the best.

Died , well I guess it was a good run, he lived to be fat and happy, spending his days swimming through the rockwork and nights in mucous balls. May his fishie soul rest in peace
