What are everyone's thoughts on keeping a six line wrasse in my bare bottom 20 Long frag tank? I'd like to keep one to help keep my corals free of pests, but I understand that they typically sleep under the sand bed at night and I don't want the fish to be stressed.

sure, they sleep in a mucus cacoon in the rocks, not in the sand. They like thier pods though ;)

Edit-do you have some rock for him to hide, explore and sleep in?If it's just frag racks, then i'd say probably not.

I would think the fish would be fine, all fish are different some might sleep in the sand and others wont.

as far as i know the 6 line when they sleep, create a sort of mucus bubble to hide their sent from predators and they usually do this in rock caves or holes not in the sand. although i may be mistaken.

Yea, I have 3 medium sized LR on the one side and a 3 tiered frag rack on the other.

I've never seen my six line go into sandbed, they sleep in a mucous cocoon.

Well, I have an idea which one it would choose, seeing as there is a very nice pre-drilled hole that points toward the side of the tank. The only problem is that I have a motion activated light sensor in the room where I keep my tanks.

I guess I will have to break out my balaclava and army crawl my way to the tank...

Here is mine with mucus all around him when sleeping in sand.

This picture was taken when he was very ill, I sadly lost him last night. :(

Sorry for your loss. How long did you have him? What did you feed him?
