The same here. I have ordered from them in the past & livestock has always been pretty close to the requested/posted sizes. Thats from LA & not DD by the way. I am about to try DD soon, they keep getting really nice tube anemones in and tempting me.

Ummm...I don't pay attention to their sizing at all. LOL Well, DD, that is. I've only ordered a fish from LA once, and won't ever again (that's another story).

Anyways, the fish from DD are usually bigger (but not a whole lot) than the size they give. At least in my experience! And same with coral.

I just go off the max size of the fish, and if I can accommodate that size in my tank, then I'll order the fish.

When you order from "DD" on Liveaquaria you are getting items that they actually have in stock in WI...everything non "DD" comes from a wholesale facility in LA, so they simply fill your order with the closet thing that is currently in stock...that can leave quite a bit room for color/size variation.

On another note does anybody else think the "DD" photos have changed recently?...I'm in no way knocking Liveaquaria...there WYSIWYG section is top rate and they have years of good customer service record behind them...it just looks like someone new is doing the photos lately and the contrast is turned up to an somewhat unbelievable level.

Yeah I noticed that, looks like they have LED lighting in the tanks now.

I know they hired a new photographer a few months ago. I noticed a difference in the photos too.

i have ordered fish a few times from live aquaria. my anthias, firefish and dottybacks came from there. all with in the estimated size.
once they called me to ask if it was ok sending fish that were 2 different sizes. ( one on the small size of their medium sizing and one on the large size of their medium sizing.

there is a box at the bottom to write any stipulations. such as please send fish about 3 inches. they really do try to please the customer. if they see your note and dont have that size available they call you. i would not hesitate to order fish from them again. at this time i have no room left :(

Well the first thing I notice about online vendors is the blatant photoshopping of pics.LA is actually not too bad the same cannot be said about some others. Buyer beware.

    LOL

I had a customer that order a spotted hawkfish and recieved a baby grouper. I just laughed at him and told him that in 3 months when he has to move it to my 850, I'm going to charge him for the food it's going to take to keep that thing alive.

I've placed at least 30 orders with Diver's Den. The look of the fish is dead on. The size..... well....

I am not speaking ill of them, I can't speak well enough of them as evidenced by my amount of purchases, but their sizes are off.

I pretty much ignore what they say and look at the size of the grains of sand under the fish to compare. Most of my fish aren't mid column fish, so I have the luxury of them being on the sand in the pics. I've gotten fish listed as 1-3/4" that have both been a completely different size. Some lengths are Standard Lengths, which don't include the tail length. Some are Total Length, which do include the tail. I find they are not consistant with that.

It's something me and my husband joke about all the time. But I still love them.
