skilter 400

I'm running a skilter 400 on a 55gallon tank with 5 fish in it. Nothing is showing up in my protein tray and i was wondering if being a new aquarium if that is normal? I've been running for about 2 months but only had fish for 1. Does this sound normal??? Everything is clean and i'm just not sure if it is working properly. I know its cheap compared to some of the other filtering and protein skimming options but i'm just starting. Does anybody know if this sounds right?

 

I would think that something may be adjusted incorrectly

 

Ive used skilters for a couple of years and I can tell you that they work MUCH better and MUCH quieter with the airstone Mod. Here's the airstone mode link.
