Which is better to skim wet or dry or in between?

Should I get a full cup of tea colored skimmate a day or a cup of dark coffee colored a week?

Let me know what you all get and what you feel is the best

I have done both. I don't think it matters. As long as you get it out of there. In between is what I would go for though. I can see a situation whereby lack of concentration causes it to be put back into the water column. Mine is the color of tea. As long as you have an overflow, wet skimming becomes a good possibility. Without that, dry all the way.

If you have an Auto-Top off, then wet skimming is fine, but keep an eye on your salinity as you will be adding more fresh water back into the system. I personally prefer dry skimming after trying both. IMO wet skimming dosen't get anymore out then dry skimming. I took one weeks worth of dry and added the same amount of water to it as one weeks worth of wet....the color on the combined appeared the same. TEA

skimming dry for me. although it means the Deltec needs a more thorough clean than it would do if I was skimming wet

my new octo will not even skim wet.. no matter were u put the tube it will end up adjusting itself to skim dry.?? i get a cup a week of dark paste. to gauge how much i might skim if i were to skim wet, i dilute it with some water. takes about a gallon to get it the color of the wet stuff i used to skim.

but i think its diff for everyone, depending on a bunch of things.bio-load,algae blooms, over feedings, size of skimmer to size of tank. ect...

I like to skim dry. If I can see light through the collector cup then it is too wet.

I only do wet when something goes awry, some times there be no skim, normally when there is good quality. bare in mind; while wet skimming trace elements are going as well.
