Was wondering what the general consensus would be for the maximum width between teeth on a skimmer box?

    Appreciate your responses.

I have a skimmer box with the teeth 0.5" apart and 1" deep.

Most teeth are 1/4" or less. In fact, many are the size of the kerf of a saw blade (about 1/8"+), as they're often done on table saws. Spacing between slots is typically 1" tho.

We actually have a simple 1/2" slot in the back of our 100 gal that feeds the external overflow, and i like it a lot, but the tank is FOWLR and the fishes are large enuff not to slip thru the slot.
