i have a remora pro with mag 3 pump. its been skimming great for a long time, i kno the pump is not at its best bc when i turn it off i need to open it up and spin the impeller a little. i do not think this is the reason. i stopped home between jobs thank god and about 5 gallons of salt water was on my throw rug and the 5 gal waste bucket was full. i have not had time to examine the skimmer yet bc of work. i got everything all cleaned up but i left the skimmer off. anny ideas what happened here? it over flowed through the collection cup.

only thing i can comme up with is the passage between the chambers in the skimmer are clogged with something.

I don't have the same skimmer as you but the only times my skimmer overflowed as you described was due to the air/water adjustment valve falling into my tank not letting any air to be taken in and the water poured into the collection cup and overflowed and so on. It's a HOB skimmer right?

thats the adjustment im talking about...mine is attached to a small vacuum line so when adjustment valve was underwater the collection cup level was maxed out and overflowed

I do have this skimmer on one of my tanks. I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope you have the water runover under control and tended to.

I have never heard of anything like this. Keep us informed.

    Best wishes

I have had to pull snails off the "ramp" before, but I had no idea that it could have potentially gone to this extent!

    K+ for sharing your experiences!

    Thank you!
