 Just didn't want anyone to confuse the two. A surge protector would not have done anything in this instance. I had my nano filter leak right down on a surge protector and it was blazing away but still providing power. Thats when I pulled the GFI out of the closet and installed it. One of those cases where I had been intending to do it for a long time but never got around to it.......Certainly got my attention!

And remember just because there is a GFIC in the bathroom does not mean you tank is protected, you must install one on that circuit. The easiest way is to install it where you plug in your tank.

Yep, I installed a GFCI on each of thee 2 circuits running my new 200g.

I have an EE buddy in our local club, and he came over and helped me do the rewiring.

GFCI outlets have a test button. Plug a lamp into the outlet you intend to plug the tank into and hit the test button on nearby GFCI and if it is protected the lamp will go out.

Yea my dad has my entire room connected to the gfci in the bathroom. The other day I went to plug my hair dryer in, hit the button on accident and all the power in my room turned off.
