Are you sure the pump is dead? I thought my skimmer's pump was dead, but it really turned out to be a faulty propeller in the pump. Easy fix! Worth a shot.

Did you take out the prop to clean it???..if you did make sure it went back in freely..if it binds up it may not spin..try to spin the prop while pluged in(be carefull with this)..some times calcium builds up on the prop shaft, make sure its clean..sometimes magnetic pumps stop working once turned off..but play with it first befor rushing into a new one....HTH..

+1 to both above posts. Try everything you can think to get it running before spending money on another. Bet it's a pretty simple fix since it was running before you cleaned it.:)

you'll probably find spinning the impellar will work, the motor in the pump is just an electromagnetic coil,if it worked before you cleaned it,it's probably just stuck(one of my older powerheads do that everytime i turn it off,i just whack it,and it's as good as new again.

well i opted to go ahead and just buy a new pump i upgraded to the mag 5, it was only $3 more so what the heck lol... im going out of the country for a week and my parents are watching my tanks for me so i dont want any pump failures while im away. i am giving them another crash course on taking care of my tanks whille im away including what to do if a pump goes down. but id rather eliminate a problem if i can.
