I am upgrading my 10g nano to a 20 long with 10g sump. I plan use some of the 10g sump as a fuge, so my space will be limited between the skimmer on one end and the pump on the other.

What would be a good skimmer for this setup?

I found a Reef Octopus BH 100SS locally but was not sure about the in-tank pump.

I have the Hydor Slim Skim Nano. It is rated for up to 35gallons water volume, and preforms very well on my 29g tank. It has a small footprint (3.1" x 3.1" including pump), so I think it will work well in your circumstances. It stands 12" tall + cup and the recommended water depth is 11".

Here is my review of the skimmer. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask.

Thanks for asking. I haven't updated it since then because I have not had any problems with it. In fact, my nitrates are even lower than they were when I last posted them on that thread. As of Thursday, my nitrates are 1-2ppm and phosphates are undetectable.

I guess I should add that to the thread.

I am actually really liking the remora HOB skimmer, it is pulling out skimmate like mad and the only space it takes up in the fuge is from the pump that feeds it, this leaves much more room for rock and chaeto. The height actually works pretty well with the 10 gallon as well, it essentially stands upright on the shelf that the fuge is sitting on.

It doesn't seem like many people use these, but I am really liking it for this set-up.

anyone use a tunze 9002? those have a tiny footprint (2in wide) and only requires around 8in of depth (can go lower)
