So I just came across some money to finally start building my 75g. Finally! The empty tank has been sitting in my garage for 2 months now and I haven't been able to do a thing to it. This week I'll be purchasing a ton of stuff, most of which I already know exactly what I want.
I'm trying to figure out what skimmer to get. I've been thinking about the Marineland Pro which comes rated for 100 or 300 gallons. I can't find too many reviews on it, but I do love the design. I figure between the 75g DT, 20g sump, and 20g fuge I'll be somewhere around 100-115 gallons. I don't mind spending $100 more and getting the 300 model. Anyone have this skimmer? Or are there any other skimmers you guys/girls recommend for my size set-up?
    Thanks,

I would pass on the Marineland honestly.. They are WAY overpriced for what they are.

I would opt with a Octo Extreme 160 or their new XP 2000. You will get way more for the price and be much more impressed than the big name's attempt at a skimmer.

I have heard really good things about the octo's. I was considering the Marineland only because I like the built in pump and becuase I've been seeing the 300 for $230. I didn't think that was too highly priced. Know of any websites where I can check prices on the octo's?

Is $280 a decent price for the Octo Extreme 160?

The MAP on Octo Extreme 160 is $269.95.. Only way you will beat that is if the LFS will sell it cheaper..

I wouldn't go for a Marineland unless it was free, but that is me.

Well I appreciate your honesty. I'll keep looking around and see what I can find. Any experience with the ASM's?

+1..... you could try calling the ma and pa websites and see if they can do any better than the MAP(minimum ADVERTISED price).... Some of these sites have good buying power and are forced to list on their sites at MAP. In all reality some of these people could sell for less and still make good profit.
