    If you are going to quarantine new arrivals for a long period of time (a month or so). I would use a skimmer especially in a smaller quarantine tank that can be easily polluted not having the live rock or sand that your main tank will. A hospital tank that is treating already sick fish that are being medicated probably won't need the skimmer. IMO

    Something to consider as well: skimmers can also pull out some medications entirely.

    I would only run when QT'ing. or tank is empty, not treating. There will still be some detritus and stuff in the water even when fish are not in it. Wasn't sure if I should take the extra precaution of a skimmer & I still, am unsure.

    Also, I was going to use this as a QT & HT, if I can do that. I plan on QT'ing for about a month to 1.5 months.
