I just installed a new PSK 100H HOB skimmer. I have the two white dots matched up but when I put the top on to the collection cup and the foam goes to the top and leaks out the cover vent holes. I have good drainage at the overflow tube. The foam keeps my cup full at the overflow tube with water but when I put the lid on, the foam goes to the top and leaks out the lid vent holes. Anyone tell me what wrong or if I got a bad skimmer?

Do you have a picture? I am having trouble following exactly what you are saying. I have the same skimmer (Eshopps for those who don't know). The two white dots just means that the water level in the skimmer will be at its lowest (it allows the most water through); you don't necessarily want it there. If you have excess foam at this level, I am guessing it is something in your tank causing it, as that is not normal.

No, sorry I don't have a picture to post. I don't have anything added to the water except the Tetra Aquasafe plus. I'm also getting millions of micro baubles in the tank from the return line going back into the tank.

Micro bubbles are completely normal on a new skimmer. It will take a few days for a week for the bubbles to stop and the skimming really start. But you should not have foam coming out the lid. My guess is maybe there is something in the AquaSafe that is making it go crazy?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
If this skimmer has an air intake try opening the air intake and see if the level drops in the main body of the skimmer.

There is a air intake tube and it is wide open. I put my finger over it and the foam will overflow as I cannot put the cup lid on or it will also run over.

Well I can tell you that I just started up a brand new PSK-100H and PSK-75H, and neither had any foam at all for a few days. There was just a little bubbling right above the water level. After about a week is when they really started to foam and produce skimmate.

So again, I think it is something in your tank causing the foam. I think dish or hand soap may do this. Did you wash out the skimmer using either and then not rinse it good enough perhaps?

Just leave it wide open for awhile to keep it from over flowing the cup and let the skimmer begin to break in.

You should just make small adjustments in decreasing the air flow until the water comes to the bottom of the cup, if it begins to overflow open it back up.

Hopefully someone who has this skimmer will chime in, I would edit your title to include the type/brand of skimmer.

Change the title to something like Eshopps psk100H skimmer overflowing cup.
