I have either a SeaClone 100 or SeaClone 150 not sure which one. It came with the tank I bought. I have played with it but can't get any foam to come to the top and have lots of bubbles in my tank. Tank has been up and running for 2 - 3 weeks and no brown foam. Can't even get the foam to come up to the cup unless I have it wide open and then the foam and water that collect is clear. Need help to figure out if this skimmer is even working and even though its a new tank should there be any coloration to the water that goes in the cup if I have it wide open. Am I doing something wrong as I have never used a skimmer before. Thanks for your time.

I don't know any thing about sesclone skimmers but with the tank up and running only a few weeks, your tank probably has not cycled yet, and thinking you have no or few critters to give you a bio load, if it is making any skimmate at all it would be verry light in color. when i am starting up a new tank, i don't even run the skimmer till after mine has cycled and i have started to add critters.

I agree. How long has the skimmer been running? Even in an established tank a new skimmer could take a week or two before it starts producing any skimmate. If your tank is new, and you don't have any livestock in it yet, you may not see much (if any) skimmate.

BTW: I have the Seaclone 100, so I'm speaking from my experience with this skimmer.

I would say to turn the screw out 1 1/4 turns, then leave it like that for a couple of weeks. At the end of 2 weeks, if it's still not producing any skimmate, then there may be a problem. But that's a very small bio-load you've got there, so I wouldn't expect much skimmate.

Not unless you unplug it for a few days. If you unplug it for a few minutes, or even a couple of hours, it won't take it very long for it to get back to where it was.
