skimmer help

    should i put a skimmer into a new tank thats a week old or should i wait?? will the skimmer hurt the cycling process?

    Ive run mine for 3 weeks when it started then turned it off for 2 weeks to let the cycle finish and put 2 clowns in after everythign read zero and started her backup and my tank has been doign well (knock on wood).

    Your goign to get it from both sides, some say yes others say no. I will say it will slow ur cycle down but will keep you from adding fish to fast

    The skimmer will not hurt the cycling process, but it there should not be much for it to pull out either.

    The skimmer will not remove ammonia. Now if your cycle is from live rock with lots of die off, it could actually help the cycle time since the ammonia/nitrite spike should be a lot lower.
