ok well some of you might know from the algae forum, that I have some algae issues. most likely because of tap water. well also from my previous post I had lost my sump pump and need to replace it. well it appears my very old prism HOB skimmer is going also. So long story short I dont have alot of money to replace them. the question and help needed is this: Ebay has all kinds of skimmers listed. some really inexspensive. will any of these work for a short term fix, till I can afford a better skimmer? or should I just stay away from them?

is the list in your signature up to date? in that in your 75 you have 2 clowns, a dottyback a brittle star and a CUC?

If so- then I would run without a skimmer until you can afford the one you want
an AquaC Remora would be a good choice IMO

Also, check Craigslist, I always get my skimmers on there. May take a few days but you can usually find a good deal on a great skimmer

yes my sig is up to date, actually I lost one of the clowns, but otherwise thats all I have right now.

From the algae forum it seems as though a new return pump and an RO/DI might be my best way to spend my money right now??? sound right?

    Sounds right to me pecco
if your tank had a heavier bioload that would make a difference
but with what you have in there at present, dont spend money on short term use skimmer , save and get one that you will be happy with, when your bio load does increase
