    im building my own sump/ fuge for a 30 gallon tank the sump will be a 10 gal with a 5 in it, what size protien skimmer should i get and whats a good brand?

    You con't want a skimmer in the fuge but a good solid skimmer for that tank would be a Turboflotor

    My top choices for a 30g are

    Aqua Medic Turbo Flotor 1000 Multi SL
    Aqua Medic Turbo Flotor 1000
    AquaC Remora Pro
    Octopus BH-100F

    In that order of preference, IMO.

    I just had to clean out chaeto from the impeller of my skimmer and it only got there by my own stupidity. I can only imagine what it would do if it was full time in the same tank.
