    Hey all,
I saw a picture here somewhere that showed an Aqua C EV120 on the outside of the sump. The install manual shows in sump and out sump installation.

    My question is,

Is one way better than the other or are they about the same performance ?

Reason is, If I mount external, I can double the size of the Fuge chamber.

    \Cheers

Correct it will give you more room in your sump for a fuge. Some people like the security of having it in the sump in case it leaks.

my skimmer is outside of the sump since everything uses external pumps for less heat exchange and longivity. powerheads are nothing but trouble.

I just had a fire due to the way my skimmer was plummed that the water exchange is out of the sump. my bad for having the powerstrips on the ground next to the pump but it got into them and melted down. My wife and I woke up at 3:30 am choking on smoke! good thing we were home! but on the good side other then we put the fire out we were able to do that with the water from the skimmer haha. Looking for the in sump one now!

I have an EV-180 in my sump and I am going to move it out to remove the heat transfer, as RG stated. Eitehr way is fine, but if you have temp problems, or don't have a skimmer, it would be better to keep it out of the sump. Each configuration has it's pros and cons.

Pretty much. Wherever you have the most room is where I would put it.
