skimmer installed i need help lol

    my coralife 220g skimmer i bought from alpha_03 is out for delivery a day early!!!! im excited lol. on a used skimmer is there still the break in period where i should expect no skimate? figured id ask :)

    Probably will be since everything will have dried out and died off.

    i flooded it out the first time i plugged it in. i dont know what im doing yet but im trying to adjust it slowly now.

    There should be a control knob that controls the water level. Set the level to the beginning of the throat. Make tiny adjustments they make large changes.

    the bubbles always pop before it comes close to the top if i set it that low how do i know when its a good setting? what am i looking to achieve?>

    ok so i flooded the skimmer out again when i went to do the woodstove. i dont know what i should be setting it for or what its supposed to look like. i know theres a break in period and whatnot but what is my goal for the setting. it looks great to me and i leave it for 20 mins and i get all that nasty stuff in my carpet. i dont want that happening all the time lol

    set the skimmer to its lowest setting, after a couple days or if brown crude develops in the next adjust it so the brown crude barely makes it into the cup.

    if i set it that low it doesnt even look on. am i doing something wrong or being impatient? ill get a vid in a bit of what its doing now

    I agree,if you are setting it to where bubbles come up the neck of the cup without it being "broke in" then you have it adjusted too high.
