how long have you had the skimmer set up? Is the skimmer located in a sump?

Does your sump have a bubble trap?

If it's a new skimmer, that's not abnormal, give a week or two to break in. If it's in your sump, then you can either build a bubble trap or attach a filter sock to the outlet. If it's in your DT, then you can do the filter sock, but that's unsightly IMO, or try to stick a piece of sponge in the outlet.

my tank has been running with out a skimmer since i first started the tank on 3/20/10, i was going to run the skimmer for a week then add fish. my skimmer is in my sump, so do i just add more pluming to the skimmer and wrap a filter sock around it or is it a different material?

Give it time to break in. Once it slimes up, you probably wont have anymore bubbles.
