Well, going with my pattern of ditching my god forsaken rio powerheads, I have decided to replace the rio 600 on my bak-pak 2 skimmer with a Maxi-Jet 1200. I have read that they work wonders and are not horribly noisy like the rios.

Has anyone else tried this? This will give me an excuse to clean the skimmer for the first time in four years...

I know...I have always been hesitant because every time i move my heater gunk comes out into the tank...heh. With regards to heater, I am looking into replacing my old Jager glass 200w for a titanium one. Does anyone have suggestions?
