Skimmer issues

You want the nastiness in the tank for the bacteria to feed on and grow in numbers. If you want to break the skimmer in you can run it in a bucket of saltwater.

 

Actually vinegar or a bucket of orange juice is best. It will break it in faster. You can run the skimmer just don't let it collect anything

 

now running a skimmer in a bucket of orange juice sounds very interesting!

 

Thanks for the tips, maybe I will just raise it way up and not let it collect anything.

 

I got it all setup perfectly and turned it off until the cycle is done
