My skimmer final broke in last night and I did a 10% water change just now and now it producing only huge bubbles in the collection neck and flooding my tank with microbubbles like it did when I first installed it. Please let me know what to do. I have had it up to here with protein skimmers:help:

What skimmer is it? Is the air intake have salt creep or clogged?

Its a coralife super skimmer 65. there doesn't appear to be a clog or any salt creep. It was working perfect this morning and when I did the water change I turned it off and it started acting up after I turned it back on. Only big bubbles are in the neck and all the microbubbles are being dumped straight into the tank

Did you try to restart it again? Pump might be running backwards.

I would take the pump off clean the impeller, the housing. Take the skimmer off and clean everything you can. I would just use hot tap water. Check the entire airline for a clog especially around any fittings. Double check any line and tubing for anything out of the ordinary.

Took it off washed everything. plugged it back in and it's still not working. I'm just getting huge air bubbles in the skimmer. Are the microbubbles in the tank bad. I heard that they burn gills and can quickly kill corals. This skimmer is just terrible; if you pay several hundred dollars for something it should work from day one without error

I blow in the air canister in my coralife skimmer. I would also make sure the outlet has space between the Water ejection an the filter

try to blow in the airline a little. also make sure the impellet is running the right direction. I will say this, when I add saltwater to my tank, my skimmer drops its foam head all together.

So it ended up working properly after about an hour. Just magically went back to normal.
