I recently added a sump to my system and moved all of the equipment into it. However, I've noticed that my skimmer is not producing any foam or skimate. At one point I hadn't emptied it for almost a month. I moved it back to my DT and it started producing foam again. I've tried to think why it wouldn't work on my sump, ive moved it around on it too. Any ideas?

I have a AquaC Remora HOB with a maxi jet 1200.

Thats odd. It should work anywhere you put it.

Is the water level (relative to the skimmer) the same in the sump as it was setup HOB before?

I agree the water level has to be right in the sump if the outlet from the skimmer is not running free you may be starving the exhaust on the skimmer I have a Aqua C EV and if the exhaust water or effluent is restricted in any way it has shuts down. Once you get it just right you should be fine.

Yes, I had it right where the water runs into it, with the water level in that section about where it is in the DT. I have recently moved it to the middle section of the sump where the water levels i lower, I added a longer connection for the pump.

Do you mean where the water runs out of it?

I have just cleaned it, the inside was filled with a lot of detritus and debris along with these small spongy things that were attached to the sides. I will see if that helps.

Im kind of perplexed, I cleaned it and moved it to the center portion of my sump. The outlet for the skimmer now allows the water to fall a couple of inches into the sump, due to the lower water level in that portion of the sump, so it can't be blocked in any way. It still wasn't pulling any foam into the cup that I could see. Any other ideas would be great.

well, I emailed the people at AquaC, they replied very quickly. The skimmer is working fine and he said that there is probably something in the water that is making the bubbles pop when they reach the surface in the water. He said he has had loc line that affected the skimmer for about a month. Also, new pumps can have residual oil that will cause the poor function, which I have again, my rio2100. I will just do a water change as scheduled and wait to see if it improves.
