Skimmer on Mantis tank?

    Do you people with mantis shrimp have a skimmer on the tank? jut curious..

    I occasionally used one. It was a modded Prizm. However, for the most part, I just did water changes.

    Hey there, Bama. I actually bought one of the Biocube skimmers to go on Bo's tank (he's in a Biocube 14). We heard it was a piece of crap, but after about a week, it actually started pulling some thick skim. And, the brown dino-looking stuff that was taking over my back wall and sand bed started quickly disappearing. In fact, it's completely gone from the sand bed now. Coincidence maybe? Otherwise, I'm just doing regular water changes.

    It depends on the mantis. For my N. wennerae I don't run a skimmer, but when I set up a O. havanensis tank I will be using a skimmer because they do not tolerate low oxygen.
