skimmer on or off when dosing algae chems?

just wondering. im about to use api algae clear and didnt know if i could leave my skimmer on because it is used every few days until its dead. will the skimmer pull it out of the water?

Off. Some products don't mention it but I've learned to keep them off anyways.

 

yeah I would also recommend turning it off, it will most likely go nuts if it's on.

 

does the same go for when I add PurpleUP? how long should I leave the skimmer off for while dosing?

 

Just as a little tip had a big algae problem when I started my tank. I went and got some algaefix thinking it was gonna be like my freshwater tank and it would nuke the algae. It of course did not when it came back it was worse.

Id try methods other than a chemical to reduce it. CUC, Phos Reactor, Ro/DI water, Lighting. with tweaking all these things I was able to bring it down almost to the point were its not even there anymore. But this is just my opinion algae chems are more of a bandaid than a solution
