I have the following skimmer:

    Coralife Super Skimmer #33002

When it was first up and running (about 3 weeks ago), it was 'frothing' up into the cup, and there was a fair amount of 'gunk' collecting in there.

Over the past 1.5 weeks or so, it no longer foams up in to it. If I increase the water level, it will flow up but just fill up with water.

The bottom chamber is swirling around nice and good and making all the bubble mixture, and I took apart all the components to make sure they were clean and debris feel.

Is this normal behavior? Will the foam only rise into the collection cup if there is 'gunk' running through the chamber causing the need for it to rise up?

    Thanks!

Many variables are responsible for the amount or lack thereof of skimmate retrieved by a skimmer. Moreover, if your chamber is dirty, the skimmer will not work as effective as if the unit was free of contaminants and pollutants that collect on the chamber.
