Obviously this is a highly debatable subject as many people have many different ways of running their tanks but I am looking for a few different opinions on whether or not to put a skimmer on my nano again. My LFS is selling a used CPR Bak Pak 2 for a really good price and I was contemplating buying it.
Just some background, this is on a 29g biocube with a sump. I used to run a skimmer that was massive for the tank (asm g-2) it never really pulled much out and I really just did water changes to maintain water quality. I stopped running it months ago because it never seemed to really help maintain water quality. Also I am not new to skimmers, I do run one on my 90g but again I dont really feel that it does much.
Thank you for any insight you may have.

I'm like you- I ran a skimmer for just a few months and never really saw any difference. One possibility is that I don't overstock my tanks; another is that I've always ran GAC which removes organics just like the skimmer, plus a few other contaminants that the skimmer misses.

While a skimmer may help reduce WCs on a larger and less conservatively stocked system, it seems pointless to me to run one on a 29g.

I agree with MrBill, I'm currently running my 55 w/o skimmer. That wouldn't be the case had the pump not burn up on me, and some trouble with shipping a new one arose, but I just tested the water last night, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I'm almost considering keeping it off even after I get the new pump. I only stock 5 fish, I'd be in trouble if there were double that amount I feel.
